Our client was the operator of a 2012 Kawasaki EX250 motorcycle traveling northbound on Interstate 5 in the HOV lane. As he approached mile post 162, the driver of a dark sedan failed to see our client and suddenly entered his lane of travel. Our client swerved to avoid impact and lost control of his motorcycle. His motorcycle flipped over, throwing our insured approximately 50-100 feet from his motorcycle. A witness stopped and rendered aid. Shortly thereafter, Washington State Patrol arrived on scene to investigate the accident and assist. Our client was transported by ambulance to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center.
In total, he received medical care in excess of $33,000.00, including ambulance transportation to the emergency room and several months of chiropractic adjustment. We secured $25,000.00 policy limit from his uninsured motorist insurer. Fortunately, we were able to negotiate a reduction of his medical specials and he was able to take home in excess of $5,000.00 from the $25,000.00 settlement.
